Biography

The biography for Yo Hibbert I was born in Rustenburg Transvaal South Africa Later moved to Natal and went to School in Natal. Started at Dannhauser a small mining town. I was very short and small as my thyroid was burnt out as a baby. I grew slowly, I was the Mascot for the school. My dad being a Magistrate, we moved every so many years around Natal. We then moved to Umzinto where I went to school, loved being by the sea, My father was then transferred to a town at the hills of the Drakensberg. Bergville where I went to school and then onto high school (Boarding school) at o Estcourt High School. Left school went to work in my fathers businesses, and at the Local pharmacy. Then i married and went to Ladysmith Natal. worked in a pharmacy and started to selling properties and worked at a physiotherapist rooms. Divorced remarried a kind gentleman, we moved to Pietermaritzburg Natal. where I started selling properties once again, got tired of it and went into to Bank, became top Bond consultant with loads of Certificates etc. I had my daughter in Ladysmith Natal. She went to School in Pietermaritzburg then Varsity College studying Sports Management then Dubai as a life saver. She returned and went to Varsity studying Dietetics. She left and came to London in 2006 working at St Harley st, and Great Ormond Street Hospital. We moved to England. I could help look after her 2 adorable children. I had been to England on a few occasions in previous years and loved it. I was diagnosed with Lupus so the cooler weather suited me. I had a Massive Pulmonary Embolism when my daughter was 6 yrs old. Was traumatic times. I survived. last few years 2020 been a bit of a downhill for me. Covid, then a Heart Attack 2022 end Jan another small episode 14 Feb heart beat was 225 first time 2nd in Feb was 157. Now Dec 2022 diagnosed with Liver Cancer. Going to beat it again. I have travelled the world since i was 19 yrs old. Been to Italy x 2 loved it Beautiful mountains Ardesio a very special place, Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Been to Ireland and France, Lourdes. Spain all twice. I am grateful to have had that opportunity in my life. Living in England has been wonderful, being near my Daughter and the grandchildren. Once a year Queen Elizabeth drove past our Development coming from the Great Derby Racecourse which is here in Epsom. We would all go and wave at her great excitement for all as she always waved back, We will sure miss her, was a great person. Where we stayed in Bergville we used to go to the Royal Natal National Park most weekends with family friends and walk on the Queens causeway, tiny bridge built across the stream. She has always been part of our lives, I really wanted to meet her, but closest we got was right on the street waving, better than never. I had kind loving parents who taught me so much. Be Patient, Polite, show love, kindness, help others always. Now I wonder whats in store for me the next couple of years.

Hi Yo

I’m always so happy to bump into another member researching their South African roots!

Perhaps you would like to join the South African Roots Project by answering the G2G join post here? Besides links to sources, there are help pages that might also be useful. Many / most of the South African genealogical lines and profiles of the eighteenth and seventeenth periods (and earlier) have already been made. Many have also been validated with primary sources.

A few handy links:

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

Happy tree climbing

Congratulations on being Pre-1700 certified! Now it's time to pick a project that best fits the pre-1700 profiles you'll be working on.

Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Do you have some historically-significant ancestors? Look at the list of Active projects to see if one fits your needs. Once you find a project that interests you, visit their project page for more information and to find out how to join. You might be interested in our Scotland Project. Can't find something? Let me know!

Hello Yo, welcome to WikiTree!

The email we just sent has helpful links to get you started.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree?

When you confirm your email address, you’ll be given an opportunity to volunteer to help document our collective family history. Use the Tags and comments to tell us about your genealogical interests.

When you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership. Then you'll be able to add your family to the tree!

We're really glad you're here!

Shirley

Why can I not log into my old account? My email address and password never changed you have taken me off of my family as the profile manager? I need to delete my DNA Please can someone assist.

Hi again Y -

You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering and sharing.  Have fun and please ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist. You can also join in on the conversation about our question of the week: Going back in time: What burning question would you ask which ancestor  If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems. You may want to edit your TAGS to include more surnames and one surname per TAG as this will allow you to find others searching for the same surnames

Enjoy the experience,

Hi Y -

I see that you have uploaded your DNA for comparison. Did you know that we have a project for DNA where a lot of things are happening? If you are interested and would like to check it out, go to the FIND link top right of your profile page, select PROJECTS from the drop down box, and then select the link for the DNA project. It has information listed that might be of interest to you, and feel free to contact any of the members if you would like more details.

Hi Y -

I wanted to suggest that you edit your tag(s) to show any surnames you are researching. It is best to have one surname and one location in each tag. When you list a surname, location or historical event in your tags, you can then click them and see a list of other WikiTree genealogists who are also researching those names, locations, etc.

You'll also get notifications in your daily & weekly emails when there is activity relevant to your tags.

Information on Tags can be found at http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tags

This Link will auto-populate your tag page. http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following

Please let me know if you have any questions! :-)

Hello!

At Wikitree we use our own names on our profiles, and we will be unable to confirm your membership if you are using an alias. If you'd like to "anonymize" your name, you can use Anonymous or an initial for either your first or last name, but preferably not both, please. If your "alias" is truly a nickname, you can put that in the Preferred Name field.

For more information on how to use each of the naming fields see this page: Name Fields

For more information on our Privacy Levels, click the Privacy tab on your profile or take a look at our Privacy help page.

Thanks for visiting Wikitree and be sure to ask for help if you need it!
