Biography

Richard Sutton Heydon was born at Plymouth, Devon, England, on 7th April, 1837.[1] He was the son of Ebenezer Heydon and Frances.

He migrated to New South Wales with his family in about 1852.[1]

Richard married Elizabeth Elliott at St. John's Anglican Church, Wagga Wagga, NSW, on 6th January, 1862.[2][3][1] They had 12 children together.

He died in Wagga Wagga on 15 May, 1915,[4][5][6] and was buried in the Wagga Wagga Monumental Cemetery.[7]

    WAGGA, Tuesday.-The death has occurred of Mr. Richard Sutton Heydon, aged 78 years, one of the oldest residents of the district. He arrived in Australia from Plymouth in 1852, and had resided in Wagga for 55 years. He was twice mayor of the town, and was one of the oldest Oddfellows in the State.
