= Biography

I have had an interest in family ties since 1962 when my parents visited DeWolf cousins in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Then my dad gave me his Heuer ancestors. Next, most of one family of cousins became Mormons and these folks have sent me many more details of our roots. Now that we have people on the internet who can make changes on some sites which are wrong, I'm hoping that WikiTree has a better system to be sure we have the truth. Glad to be here. My list of Surnames: Heuer, Murray, Magee, DeWolf, Bishopp, Chapman, Buttery, Knauth, Mann, Gador, Schmidt. This summer we visited three of the Canadian Atlantic Provinces, finding places where my Murray, Dewolf, ancestors lived

Dear Jean,

since I didn’t see any reaction from your side about the check-in message from May, I assume you don’t want to remain a project member. If I don’t hear from you within the next 14 days, I will then remove your Germany Project badge. If you do not wish for that to happen, please reply to the check-in message below or send me a direct message.

If this message finds you too late, feel free to re-request the badge by replying to our G2G join post.

Kind regards from Black Forest

Dear Germany Project member,

it's annual check-in time 2023. If you still wish to remain a member of the Germany Project, please reply to this post, by stating this intention. If we don’t hear from you in the next 30 days, your membership badge will be removed. In this case please don't be offended ... you're welcome to rejoin at any time. Please also note, that in order to receive help, with researching your German ancestors, membership is not mandatory. Just ask your questions in the G2G forum and tag them with Germany in order for knowledgeable people to see them.

If you wish to remain a member, we would like to learn more about your perception of the Germany Project in order to achieve a future development according to our members needs and wishes. For this, we created a survey, which we kindly ask you to fill-in.

In case you want to communicate, discuss and receive help about WikiTree in German, you might want to check out the WikiTree category at Compgen’s Discourse as well as the German Discord server Ahnenforschung.

Of course there’s still the official WikiTree Discord server, where we usually talk English. Feel free to learn more about Discord and the server at Help:Discord.

Kind regards from Black Forest

Hi,

It’s Germany Project check-in time again! Please respond within the next 2 weeks and let me know if you’re still interested in participating with the Project. Remember, the only requirements for membership in the Germany Project are (1) that you work on at least one German profile every 6 months and (2) that you respond to this check-in.

Since you’re not working with one of our Sub-projects or Teams yet, please look at our main Project page for a full list and let me know which team you’d like to join.

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. In your response, we welcome any feedback you may want to give on the project (what you like about it, what you’d like to see us do, what we could change, etc.)

If you ever have any questions, please ask. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions, please ask. We would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hi,

The Germany Project Leaders are doing their semi-annual check-in with all project members and we want to verify that you’re still interested in being a member of the Project. Please respond by private message and let me know.

REMINDERS: (1) We use Google Groups for project collaboration and you aren’t yet a member of the group, please submit a join request here (make sure to add your name/WikiTree ID to the request). (2) add GERMANY to your followed G2G tags so you don't miss any discussions in G2G (see: Help:Tags#How_to_follow_tags Help:Tags).

Are you currently working with one of our Sub-projects or Teams? If not, take a look at our main Project page for a full list. We recently launched a new Profile Improvement Team and are seeking new team members. Let me know if you’re interested.

We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions, please ask. We would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hi Jean,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, so working with the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Your tag comments make me think that the German Roots and Irish Roots projects will be interested in your research.

Those project pages have resources and guidelines as well as info about how to collaborate with the project members.

Have questions? Click my name, then ask in the comments on my profile.

Hey Jean,

Here is an option that may help you a little better with getting your work from FamilySearch to WikiTree.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:WikiTree_X

Give that a read and see if that may help a little. Let me know!

Thanks, Cindy

Hi Jean!

You've been a member for about a week so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions? Most of us have questions after all that information!

I want to help! Click my name, send me a private message or ask in the comment section of my page. Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Cindy ~ WikiTree Messenger

PS To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

You're very welcome, EJ!

To start entering your family tree, just go to your profile and click on the "Mother?" and "Father?" links near your name. There are also links for brothers/sisters, spouse, and children, if you wish to start there instead.

This page explains a bit more: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Adding_Family

Hope this helps!

Vicky Majewski ~ WikiTree Greeter

Thanks for volunteering!

You are now an active member of the WikiTree community, and can start adding your family.

I recommend starting with our New Member How-To pages. They will save you time, energy and frustration as you create your family profiles. Building your family tree on WikiTree will help you connect with others who have the same ancestors.

Need help? Just ask!

Above all, have FUN!  :) I hope you enjoy WikiTree as much as I have!

Kind regards,

Vicky Majewski ~ WikiTree Greeter & Member since August 2015

P.S. If you ever get a "Page Not Found" error when you click a link in a WikiTree email, you can usually find a functioning link in the public comments section of your profile page.

Welcome!

This is just a note to say hi and to let you know that I'm available to answer questions about joining WikiTree.

To contact me, click the link to my name above, then send a private message or post a comment on my profile page.

Karen ~ WikiTree Greeter

P.S.  If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.
