Biography

Ellen Heritage was born in 1859 at sea, aboard the ship "Nimrod" on which her parents, Ingram and Elizabeth Heritage, were travelling. ^{[1] [2]}

Ellen married Isaac Pike in 1880 at Molong, NSW. ^[3]

Ellen Pike passed away in 1919, at Cargo, NSW (aged 60-61). Her death registration listed her parents as Ingram and Elizabeth. ^[4]
Her death was reported in Molong Argus (NSW : 1896 - 1921) Fri 25 Apr 1919 Page 5 MANILDRA. ^[5]

Death of Mrs. E. Pike.

The death occurred on Sunday morning, at her residence, Toogong, of an old and respected resident of that district in the person of Mrs. Ellen Pike. The cause of death was an internal trouble, which assumed a very virulent form about two months ago, and despite the best medical skill and the unremitting care of her family nothing could be done to arrest the ravage of the fell disease. The late Mrs. Pike, who was 61 years of age, resided continuously at Toogong for the past 41 years. She was the possessor of a kindly and charitable disposition, and was ever ready to give a helping hand to anyone in trouble or in need of assistance. The news of her demise was received throughout the district with general expressions of regret. The deceased lady leaves a family of eight children to mourn the loss of a devoted and affectionate mother, viz.: Richard (Sydney), James (Goulburn), Stanley and Keith (Toogong), Mrs. W. Williams, and Misses Martha, Milly, and Ruth (Toogong). Mr. J. Heritage, of Toogong, is a brother of deceased. The interment took place in the Toogong cemetery on Monday afternoon, the funeral being largely attended.

Ellen was buried at Toogong Cemetery, Toogong, Cabonne Shire, New South Wales, Australia, along with her husband Isaac. ^[6]

Mrs. Ellen Pike, an old resident of the Toogong district, died at the age of 61 years. She had resided at Toogong continuously for 41 years.
