Edwin was born in 1872. [1]
In 1881 Edwin was one of 5 children living with parents Zechariah and Caroline in Bristol. His father was a Colliery Labourer. [2] In January 1891, at 18 years and 4 months, Edwin joined the Army - the Gloucester Regiment of the Royal Artillery. His records confirm Zachariah as his father. Edwin served 13 years in total. His conduct had been very good and after discharge he moved to Exeter. It was noted he had tattoos on both forearms on enlistment and a scar on the front of his right leg. [3]
In 1893 Edwin married Jessie King in Exeter. [4]
In 1901 Edwin and Jessie were living in soldier's married quarters in Woolwich. Edwin was a Gunner with the Royal Artillery. The couple had 4 children. [5]
Edwin died aged 61 in 1933. His death was registered in Exeter. [6]
