John, born about 1806 in Scotland,^[1] married Elizabeth Strathearn in 1829.^[2] In 1841 they lived in Lanark, Lanarkshire, Scotland, with their seven children: Jessie, Christina, William, George, Jane, Elizabeth, John and Jane.^[3]
