William Hendrie was born December 11, 1745, in Connecticut. ^[1]

From Ye historie of ye town of Greenwich, county of Fairfield and state of Connecticut, published 1911, by Spenceer Percival Mead, digitized here: https://archive.org/details/yehistorieofyeto00mea/page/553/mode/1up According to Mead, Wiliam was born in Scotland, however his birth records indicate that he was a native of Connecticut.

From: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/12338917/william-hendrie William's Find A Grave memorial also indicates that he was born in Scotland. In the same cemetery is the memorial on Alexander Hendrie, born November 25, 1749, in Connecticut. ^[2]

Alexander Hendrie-94 is found on the United States Census of 1820, living in Greenwich, Fairfield county, Connecticut. ^[3] An image of the Census records are available to view on FamilySearch.org. Neighbors are Reuben Lockwood, Andrew Lockwood, and the "Widow Hannah Hendrie" ^[4] The "Widow Hannah Hendrie" is very likely Hannah (Lockwood) Hendrie, Lockwood-2044 who married William Hendrie, born December 11, 1745, and who died October 21, 1804 and is buried in the Tomac Burying Ground.

To further suggest that William and Alexander are brothers, and perhaps the son of a father named Alexander, who hailed from Scotland, William named his son, Alexander Hendrie ^[5]
