Carl Russell Heine was born on 28 June 1870 in Singleton, Colony of New South Wales, son of Charles Robert Heine (1836–1905) and Mary Anne Russell (1845–1930).[1]
Carl came to the Marshall Islands in 1890.
Carl married Arabella (FamilySearch Profile) in 1892 in the Marshall Islands. Their child was Claude Heine (13 April 1893 – 1944).

Reverend Carl Heine was ordained as a minister in 1906, and became an associate missionary of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions. In 1940, the Japanese removed him from Jaluit to the islet of Imiej which was (part of the Jaluit Atoll), the headquarters for the Japanese Navy garrison.[2]
Carl died in April 1944 in Jaluit, Aelōn̄ in M̧ajeļ, aged 73. He was beheaded by the Japanese.
