George Hays was a Virginia colonist.

George Hayes and his wife Sarah (Dyer) Hayes were known to have lived in Augusta County, VA, in the early 1700s. George Hayes died there in 1747. His widow, Sarah (Dyer) Hayes remarried to James Edmundson (Edminsten) in 1749 and they moved to the head of Pedlar River in neighboring Amherst County, VA.

The Edmundson's then migrated to Wilkes County, North Carolina, along with many of Sarah's children by George Hayes. Sarah (Dyer) Hayes-Edmundson was known to have lived and died in the Patterson/Buffalo Creek area of Wilkes County (which later became Burke & Caldwell Counties), NC.
