Biography

James Hayhoe came free to Van Diemen's Land (1826-1856)

James Buck Heyhoe was born about 1806 in Norfolk, England. James Buck Heyhoe was christened on the 13th of August 1806 at North Elmham, Norfolk, England. He was the son of John and Mary Hayhoe. ^[1]

In 1831 James Hayhoe marries Susan Whatley in Colkirk, Norfolk, England. ^[2]

In 1837 James with wife Susan and two children arrived in Tasmania on the 'Derwent'.^[3][4]

James Hayhoe was a bullock driver. In 1840 he was at the Ploughing match at Evandale Station, Tasmania. Evandale Station was run by Joseph Kirkby. ^{[5] [6]}

In 1850 James was in N.S.W. ^[7] In 1855 in N.S.W. James is charged with stealing a dray and team of bullocks. ^{[8] [9]} He was found not guilty of this charge. ^[10]

In 1867 James Hayhoe was in occupation of a 36 acre farm in West Tamar, Tasmania. ^[11]

James passed away in 1871 at Launceston, Tasmania. He was 65 years old. ^[12]
