Biography

Lydia Hathaway was probably born about 1662 in Dartmouth, Plymouth Colony, the daughter of Arthur and Sarah (Cooke) Hathaway.[1][2] Although no birth record seems to be extant for Lydia, she was named in her father's February 1710 will as one of "my three Daughters, viz, Mary Hammond, Lydia Sisson & Hannah Cadman."[3]

She married James Sisson probably in Dartmouth about 1681, this date estimated from birth their of first child. [4][1] He was the son of Richard and Mary (Unknown) Sisson. James was named in both of his parents' wills.[5][6] James Sisson, yeoman of Dartmouth, died between 15 June 1734 and 02 December 1734, the dates his will was written and his estate was inventoried.[7] His will of was proved 17 December 1734. He named sons Richard, James, Jonathan and Thomas; daughters Mary and Hannah Sisson, Sarah Davil and Rebecca West; granddaughter Susanna Sisson. Also mentioned was deceased daughter Content's unnamed children. Son, Jonathan Sisson, was named sole executor.[7]
