I am a granddaughter of Charlie. I too remember the chickens. A few times I went with him to gather eggs. We'd go into the chicken house with him carrying the metal egg basket. The chickens would get all excited and scurry around until he "talked" to them and they quieted.

I remember getting in trouble with Charlie when my siblings and I used the roof of the chicken house for a slide. We were scaring the chickens!

Charlie had many jobs over the years. I knew him as a farmer, and he raised sheep and chickens.
