Biography

This profile is part of the Hartley Name Study.

William was born around 1723. He married Mary Heath on 31st July 1745 at Great Budworth, Cheshire.[1]

The couple had at least 5 children and from their christening records (eg. William born 1751[2] ) they spent their married life in Antrobus, Cheshire.

Mary, William's wife died and was buried at Great Budworth on 19th March, 1767. The abode for the couple was given as Antrobus.[3]

William married Mary Yates at Great Budworth, by licence, on 18th June, 1769[4]

William had at least another 5 children with his second wife and from the christenings of their older children, it seems that they spent the early years of their marriage in Antrobus, where they were still living when youngest daughter, Ann, was christened in 1776. [5] They moved to Thelwall, Cheshire before the birth of their youngest son, John, in 1780.[6]

William was widowed once again when Mary died in 1801. [7]

He died on 28th November 1810 and was buried at All Saints Church, Thelwall, Cheshire.[8]
