Anna "Ann" Mary (Hartl) Biel, 91, of Beaver Dam, Dodge, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison on Friday, 1 September 2006. Anna was born in Beaver Dam on 22 December 1914, a daughter of Michael Joseph Hartl, 1886-1957 and Clara Theresa (Neis) Hartl, 1894-1973. On 29 November 1946, she married Myron "Mike" Henry Biel at St. Jerome's Catholic Church in Columbus, Columbia, Wisconsin.
Anna was a 1932 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. She and her husband owned and operated the Vet's Bar in Columbus for many years. She also was the founder and operator of Ann's Truck Stop in Columbus for 13 years. She and her husband then moved to Beaver Dam and together they owned and operated the Ranch Tavern, later known as John's and even later as Bogey's. She was a longtime member of the Columbus American Legion Auxiliary. Anna was an active member of the St. Katharine Drexel Parish of Beaver Dam and her family meant everything to her.
Her survivors included: her children, David (Jan) Biel of Medina, Ohio; John Biel of Beaver Dam; Mary Hartl Biel (Ed Lippert) of Madison; Robert (Shelley) Biel of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Michael; Jason; Nathan; Colin; Jennifer; Zachary and Mataia; great-grandchildren, Anna; Claire; Ella; Benjamin; Madeline; Wesley and Emily; brother, Michael Anthony (Rosemary) Hartl, b. 1932 of Beaver Dam; brother-in-law, Lester Hafenstein of Beaver Dam and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Myron "Mike" Henry Buel, 1913-1978; sisters, Frances Veronica (Loren) Radke, 1918-2005; and Agnes Clara (Hartl) Hafenstein, 1924-1984.
Visitation for Anna was held on Wednesday, 6 September 2006, at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and again at the church on Thursday, 7 September from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, 7 September at 11:00 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 511 South Spring Street in Beaver Dam where the Rev. Fr. John Schreiter officiated.
Burial followed in Saint Peter's Cemetery, Beaver Dam. The findagrave memorial ID is 32396923.
The family suggested that memorials be made in their beloved Anna's name to St. Katharine Drexel Parish School or to the charity of one's choice.
The Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam served the family and was in charge of arrangements.
