I’ve just discovered we are cousins.

Our DNA tests only propagate to profiles of people who are calculated to share enough DNA to show a match if the 2 people were tested and compare their test data. Richard is too far back to sbow an autosomal DNA match if his DNA were tested. And a man's Y chromosome DNA is shared only on the paternal line (father's father's father, etc.).
Also, your Wikitree ancestry doesn't extend back to Richard yet. You may need to add profiles for additional family members, or connect someone in your family to a parent who already has a profile.
Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects coordinating them is essential.
Please ensure location data matches date of profile and avoid abbreviations. Citations & links for sources enable verification of data please add, from wiki ID go to Research to find sources
The United States History might fit based on your contributions & comments . Add the tag United_States_History for updates
Use the Pre-1700 Projects list for a project to fit your research focus, a location or time period. Read the goals & tasks of the project, join if it fits
Any questions just ask

I have not been DNA tested but probably will before the end of the year. Where is your family from?
Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.
Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.
If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.
Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

I have added you to the trusted list for Leonard White and his direct related ancestors and siblings.
Thanks, Jim Harkness
I have added you to the trusted list for Ellen White and her direct related descendants. Let me know if it worked out OK. If there are additional requests I'll be glad to generate them also. Please add me to your White line trusted list also.
Thanks for helping to make this tree better.

A warm welcome to WikiTree, a genealogy site different than any other! You should have received an email from us with helpful links to get started.
Our goal is to have one single profile per person so that we have ONE big family tree and we collaborate together to make that happen.
Each volunteer at WikiTree adds to the collaborative tree at their own pace, there are no minimum requirements for time or entry.
When you volunteer, you indicate your interests by adding tags and comments and then one of our Greeters will confirm your membership.
