Biography

Social Activist, Author, Painter, Spiritualist. During the Civil War she served as a nurse with the 32nd Wisconsin Volunteers Infantry. She studied at the School of Design in San Francisco in 1870, and later had a studio doing marine wildlife and portraits. There, she became active in women's rights, where she introduced a legislative bill to allow for women to be appointed as Public Notaries. Inducted into the San Francisco Hall of Fame.

Research Notes

  • Some narratives claim that Albert and Adeline were divorced in 1869, however, at the time of writing of this note, no sources records have been found to confirm this. However, census records of the Albert and Adeline seem to support the 1869 divorce.
  • The Hart genealogy cited below contains some minor errors. It is believed to be reliable in most respects with Adeline and her family.Kuntz-859 17:37, 12 April 2024 (UTC)
