Biography

Edwin Harrison was born in Northampton, Northamptonshire, England.

Edwin Harrison was born on 1 August 1863 and was baptised on 28 October 1863 at St. Edmund's, Northampton, England^[1]. He was the son of Tobias Harrison and Ann Brown.

Edwin Harrison migrated from England to New Zealand.

When Edwin was 10 years of age, he and his family emigrated from England to New Zealand aboard the ship Queen of the Age^[3]. The vessel sailed from Gravesend on 16 November 1873 bound for Auckland with 165 immigrants, and after a somewhat eventful voyage arrived at that port on 2 March 1874, making the passage under Captain Montgomerie in 105 days from Torbay.

On 30 June 1886 he married Selina Maude Mary Wright in Kaeo in the Far North of the North Island. They had the following children:

3. Frederick Charles Harrison (b. 1890^[6], d. 2 May 1957)
4. Maude Isabel Harrison (b. 1899^[7], d. 1984)

6. Francis Leonard Harrison (b. 1900^[9], d. 1922)

Edwin Harrison died in Morningside, Auckland on 4 April 1953 at the age of 90. He was cremated at Waikumete Cemetery in Auckland, and his ashes were scattered at the Cemetery^[10][11]. Eucalyptus Glade, Row Sc - Ash, Plot 0

Research Notes

Some family trees have Edwin marrying Mary Eves in 1897 but this is incorrect (I have sighted a copy of the newspaper death notice for Mary Sellars Eves and her husband was not this Edwin Harrison).
