Biography

John Harris was born about 1819.

Marriage. On 17th May 1845, John Harris married Alice Smithem at the Wesleyan Chapel in Liskeard, Cornwall. John and Alice resided at St Cleer. Their fathers are recorded as John Harris, Miner, and Nicholas Smithem, Miner. Their marriage was registered in the June quarter, at Liskeard. ^{[1] [2]}

Emigration to Australia. By 1850 they were in the Colony of South Australia.

Death. John passed away age 64 on 6 December 1883 in Kapunda, South Australia. ^{[3] [4]}

DEATH.

HARRIS.—At Kapunda, on the 6th December, John Harris, aged 64 years, after a long and painful illness. A resident of Kapunda for 32 years, and much respected by all who knew him.

Burial. His remains were buried in his wife's grave at the Kapunda Cemetery (Plot G 37), Alice having predeceased him in 1878. ^[5]
