Biography

lived in Bedford, PA

"Thomas Harris is estimated to have been born about 1705. His oldest known child was born in 1735. His wife's name in a 2 May 1748 land sale was Margaret (maiden name not yet known). His wife's name in a 9 August 1755 land sale was Sarah (maiden name not yet known). (Not Sarah Offutt, who was married to another Thomas Harris.) He had 5 known children: Keziah born 1735 who married Thomas Goodson, Judith born about 1741 who married Achor Worley, Mary born about 1744 who may have married Ninian Offutt Magruder, Thomas born about 1750 whose wife may have had the given-name Ruth, and John born 1755 who married Mary Elder on 3 Mar 1783). Thomas Harris died 5 November 1757. He was buried on his dwelling plantation, land known as "Box's Search", located where Piney Creek joins the Monocacy River in Carroll County, MD. His widow, Sarah, later married Abraham Poor."[1]

"Thomas Harris (d. 1757) patented a tract of land called "Boxes Search" that spanned both banks of the Monocacy River at the confluence of Piney Creek. When he died in 1757, he listed 4 children in his will (Judy, Thomas, Mary and John) and makes his wife Sarah executor. He also leaves 45 acres of land to his grandson, Thomas Goodson Jr - implying that Keziah Harris, who was the first wife of Thomas Goodson Sr., was his daughter.

Sarah is likely the mother of all his younger children (Thomas Jr., Mary and John) but she may not be the mother of his older daughters (Judy and Keziah). The fact that he had children in the 1730s and had infant children at the time of his death in 1757 suggests he was born around 1710."[2]

See the notes for his child Judith (Harris) Worley (abt.1736-1788). If this is true, then the merge should be rejected, as this is a different person from https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Harris-16269. Deb ~ Data Doctor
