Biography

In 1900, Dewey was living on his father's farm in Smith River, Virginia in Patrick County.[1]

In 1910, Dewey was living on his father's farm in Smith River, Virginia in Patrick County. His profession was listed as farm laborer.[2]

Dewey registered for the draft in World War I but I haven't found any evidence that he served yet.[3]

In 1920, Dewey was living on his father's farm in Smith River, Virginia in Patrick County. His profession was listed as Mail Carrier for the Star Route.[4]

In 1940, Dewey was living in the household of Walter L. Rakes of Smith River, Virginia. He was listed as a boarder and his profession was listed as Farm Hand.[5]

On August 12, 1942, Dewey enlisted in the Army and served in World War II. His enlistment records list him as separated with dependents. He went in as a Private. His civilian profession was listed as General Farmer.[6]

In February 1971, Dewey died in Rocky Mount, Virginia.[7]
