Capt Thomas Harris, son of Thomas and Anna Harris of Fairfield, Salem (later Cumberland), New Jersey, was born iin Nov 1710.[1]
Thomas Harris married twice.[1] His first wife, Sarah Dayton, was daughter of Ephraim Dayton of Fairfield, New Jersey.[1] All thirteen of Thomas Harris' children were from his first marriage, to Sarah Dayton.[1] Sarah (Dayton) Harris died 2 April 1774.[1]
Capt Thomas Harris married second, as her third husband Susannah (Elmer) Wescott.[1]
Thomas served as Captain in New Jersey militia.[1]
Will - Death - Burial
Capt Thomas Harris died testate 27 April 1783, age 72 years and 5 months.[1] He was buried in the Presbyterian churchyard near Fairton, New Jersey (a town just south of Fairfield and the Cohansey River).[1]

In his will, dated 6 Feb 1781, he refers to himself as Thomas Harris of Fairfield, Cumberland County, New Jersey.[2] In his will Thomas names his wife Susanna, and "oldest son") Ephraim, other sons Ameriah, and James, daughters Ruth Bower, Sarah Clark, Abigail Stratton, Barshaba Brooks, and Judeth Harris.[2] Thomas also names a grandson who is underage, Isaac Harris, whose father evidently died and whose mother, evidently remarried, is named Ruth Lawrence.[2]
