Biography
Seldon W. was born on either Sept 4, 1899 or Sept 2, 1900 depending on which birth registration is to be believed (see research notes) in Havelock, New Brunswick. He was a son of Elkanah Herrington and Elizabeth (Unknown) Herrington.[1][2]
He married (1) Muriel Mabel Braydon on December 30, 1918 in Saint John. On his marriage certificate, he is listed as 19 and occupied as a fireman.[3]
In 1929, he appears to have moved to Maine.[4]
He married (2) Clarissa Burleigh on Sept 1, 1936 in Maine. Both he and Clarissa were living in East Millinocket at the time.[5]
According to his obituary, he continued to work as a firefighter and was working for the Great Northern Paper Company for approximately the last 20 years of his life.[6]
He passed away Jan 26, 1964 and is interred at the Millinocket Cemetery.[6]
Research Notes
Two different birth sources exist for Seldon. The first is a late birth registration given by his parents in 1929 which lists his birthdate as September 2, 1900 and his place of birth as Havelock. The second is a late registration of birth attested to by his elder brother in 1961. A record in the 1901 census is not found to corroborate either attestation.
