Hubert Ernest Harrington was born on 7th February 1875 in Maryborough, Queensland (Australia). He was the eldest of three children of William Harrington, an Irish-born accountant and businessman, and Jemima 'Minnie' Ross. [1]
He became a solicitor. [2]
Hubert married Laura Barton on 17th December 1902 in Queensland. [3] Making their home in Maryborough, the couple had a daughter and three sons:
Hubert lost his younger brother (aged eighteen) in 1897, Mum in 1914, Dad in 1918 and sister (aged 43) in 1920.
Hubert was presented Charles' Distinguished Service Cross at Admiralty House, North Sydney on 22nd January 1943 by the Governor General. His address was then given as 22 Redmyre Road, Strathfield. [4]
Aged 77 years, he passed away in 1952 in Strathfield. [5] He was survived by his eldest son.
