Biography

John Harmon was born about 1639, probably in England.

John's name appeared on a list of rates paid by the inhabitants of Saco, Maine, in 1670. He paid 16 s.[1]

John married Elizabeth (Cummings) Foxwell in 1673 in Saco, Maine. They had a daughter, Elizabeth, and the mother appears to have died shortly after.[2]

John was one of the few people in Saco who owned horses in 1674. Carriages were unheard of.[1]

John married Deborah Johnson, as his second wife, about 1675 in York, Maine. They had four children:

Col. Johnson Harmon, b. 1675 (?), m. 1702, Mary Moulton
Capt. John Harmon, b. 1680 (?); m. 1707 Mehitable Parker
Mary Harmon, m (1) Benjamin Donnell; m (2) Joseph Holt.
Thomas Harmon; died 1701. He was going by canoe from Piscataqua to York and was blown out to sea and lost Dec. 23, 1701.[1]

His inventory was taken on 2 April 1695 and recorded at York county.[3]
