Biography

John Francis Henry Hargrave was born about 1830 in Suffolk England. He was the son of John and Mary Young.

He immigrated to Australia about 1855

He married Louisa Howell in 1869 in Young, NSW.^[1] Their children:

John died age 85 [Obituary states age 78] on 25 Jan 1915^[11] and buried Young Cemetery, Young, Hilltops Council, New South Wales.^[12]

DEATH.^[13] Yesterday morning John Francis Henry Hargraves, an old resident of the district died at his residence, Yass street, from senile decay, having at- tained the age of 78 years. The de- ceased was a blacksmith by trade and was of a roving disposition, and took several trips, we understand, to the South Sea Islands, and other parts. He was born in Suffolk (England) and came to New South Wales about 60 years ago, marrying Louisa Howell, at Young, in the year 1869. Deceased leaves a grown up family of five sons and five daughters. One son, Mr. Jas Hargraves, is a sharefarmer on Milly Milly.

...the widow and six sons and four daughters survive him. One son predeceased him. Mr J. Hargrave, of Milly Milly, is one of the sons living, and Mrs E. Millard, of Bimbi, Mrs Young, Thuddungra, and Mrs Matthews, Grenfell, are daughters.
