He was the son of John Hanna and Martha Doak. He passed away after 1793, as he is listed in his father's 1793 will.[1]
Part of Samuel's gravestone is now located in the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History in Mount Airy, NC. It is unknown where the stone was before it was in the museum. Possibly Alamance Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Greensboro, NC.
All that is inscribed on the stone is that it was for Samuel Hanna, that he died 22 November 1794, & that he was 22 years old.
A possible will for Samuel Hanna in Surry County, dated 1795, appears a few pages after the will of John Hanna. In it, he leaves his estate to his mother.[2]
