Birth

Sarah was born in 1845 in Chilson, Oxfordshire^[1]. She was the daughter of George and Emilia. Her baptism took place in Shorthampton, Oxfordshire on 5th February 1845^[2]. Her father stated on the register that he was a labourer and that the family were living in Chilson at the time.

Marriage

Richard Westbury and Sarah Hands were married after banns in Shipton on Cherwell, Oxfordshire on 7th November 1863^[3]. They were bachelor and spinster and both living in Shipton on Cherwell at the time. Richard was of full age, working as a labourer and the son of William Westbury who was a shepherd. Sarah was 19 and the daughter of George Hands who was a labourer. They each signed their own name on the register and the witnesses to the marriage were John Westbury and Ann Howse^[4].
