Blacksmith of Chipping Campden

Buried 28 April 1688 Chipping Campden

Left a will transcript as follows:-

In the name of God amen I Richard Hancox of Chipping Campden in the County of Gloucester Blacksmyth being by the blessing of God of sound mind and memory, but weake in body and considering the uncertainty of this transitory life do this fifth day of July in the second yeare of the reigne of our Sovereigne Lord James the Second by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland king defender of the Faith &c Amoq Im 1686 make and ordaine this my last Will and testament hereby revoking and making voyd all and every Will and Wills by mee formerly made either by word or writing and appoynting this alone to stand and be taken for my last Will and testament Principally I committ and commend my soul to Allmighty God who gave it And my body I leave to the earth from whence it was taken to be buryed in Christian and decent maner And as for and concerning all my goods chattells and psonall estate which the Lord in mercie hath lent mee I give and dispose thereof in maner and forme following Imprimis

I give and bequeath unto my sonne Edward and daughter Anne Twelve pence apiece

Item [I] give and bequeath to my Granddaughter Mary Ballard the summe of Five shillings of lawfull money of England

Item all the rest of my goods chattells and psonall estate whatsoever not before bequeathed (my debts and Funerall expences out of the same first satisfied paid and discharged) I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth my loving wife whom I do hereby make constitue and ordayne sole Executrix of this my last Will and testament In witnesse whereof I have hereto put my hand and seale the day and yeare first abovewritten
