Biography

John Hamilton is a member of Clan Hamilton.

Sir John Hamilton of Fingaltoun was a younger brother of David Hamilton of Cadzow and was ancestor of the Hamiltons of Preston.^[1]

He married firstly, Jane, daughter and heir of Sir James Lyddell or Preston.

He married secondly, Anna, daugher of Sir WIlliam Seton of that Ilk.

John was possibly killed at the Battle of Homildon.^[1]

DNA

A well documented (but private, H-217) descendant of his has had his Y-chromosome tested in the FTDNA Hamilton project and was found to be I1-L338 (Group A in the project)^[2].
