Angelica was the second child and first daughter of Alexander Hamilton. She was named after her aunt, Angelica Schuyler.
At the age of 17, following the death of her brother, Philip, in a the famous duel with George Eaker, Angelica had a mental breakdown and went into a state that has been described as "eternal childhood." Angelica was cared for by her mother for most of her life and eventually placed in the care of a doctor in New York. She never married and never had any children.
