Biography

According to the Hallam Family History: "William Henry Hallam was bom 28.07.1839 the youngest child of Joseph Hallam and Maria Loach. He married Eliza Rosetta Wheatley first and after her death he remarried Sarah Eunice Holly. She was the daughter of Richard Millhouse and Elizabeth Heath. William Henry had thirteen children John George b. 19.03.18 64 Anna Maria b.2.02.1867 died infant ArthurHenry7.09.186 5 died27.09.1870 Edith Emmeline b 2.09.1873 m. Joseph Dunkerly Edmund Andrew b. 25.10.1870 Ella Amelia b. 13.05.1875 Frederick Lewis b 16.12.1868 m. Jane Page Joseph William b . 18.10.1862 m. Eliza Guttridge Lillias Isobel b 4.03.182 m . John Buckney Mabel Maria b. 28.07.1876 Minnie Maud b. 1.11.1880 Norman Leslie b. 14.07.1879 Sydney Augustus b. 25.07 .1877 m. Elizabeth Charlotte ?

Martin Cash was ill and refused admission to the Hobart Hospital and subquently died at home. William Henry Hallam sat on the board of the coronial enquirey held into Martin Cash's death.

William Henry owned Rosetta House which was on the site of the Rosetta High School. This was eventually demolished to make way for the high school.

1915 Electoral roll William and Sarah Unice were living at "Malvern Glenorchy. At the Methodist Church at Glenorchy one of the stained glass windows is dedicated to the memory of Sarah Unice Hallam and on the opposite side of the church another window is dedicated to the memory of Eliza Rosetta Hallam, John Halam and Maria Hallam.

William Henry Hallam is buried at Cornelian Bay k4 with wife and son. Witnesses at the wedding of William Hallam and Eliza Wheatley were Eliza’s brother Hiram Wheatley and Eliza M. Hallam. Death date also recorded as 25 May 1920."
