She passed away in October 1897 in Scarsdale, Victoria, Australia[3] and was buried at the Smythesdale Cemetery, Scarsdale, Golden Plains Shire, Victoria, Australia[4].
A Local Bereavement. — The dreadful possibilities that follow in the wake of influenza, and the frailty of this mortal life of ours, were brought home with very painful emphasis to Mr. and Mrs. John Hall, of Yackandandah, on Thursday of last week, when they received a startling message announcing the death of their second daughter, Mrs. Voutier, who had expired at half past 10 the night before, after only ten days illness. The news came with an added shock from the fact that the event was wholly unexpected. Mrs. Voutier, who, with her husband, has been residing for some considerable time at Scarsdale, a short distance from Ballarat, was regarded as possessing all the hearty constitutional strength of the family. About the middle of October, however, she failed with what appeared to be an ordinary attack of influenza. Every care was taken, and the usual remedies applied, but, despite the most careful nursing, congestion of the lungs supervened. The best available medical skill was exerted to the utmost to combat the more serious malady, but in vain. The most alarming symptoms very quickly set in, under which the patient gradually sank and passed away, singing with delirious rapture the hymns of her if girlhood. The deceased lady was but 33 years of age, and leaves a family of three children, the youngest being but ten months, and the eldest five years. She was well-known at Yackandandah, where her sweet and gentle disposition won her many faithful friends, who will mourn her early loss.
