John Hall was born in Pennsylvania.

John Hall was born on 22 June 1865 in Stewart Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, the son of Josiah Hall and Jane Thorpe.

Stewart Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, 29 August 1870, Connellsville Post Office
Josiah Hall (43), Cross Tie worker, and wife Jane (41), owned real estate valued at $300 and personal property valued at $100, in household with their children, Elmer (15), Cross Tie worker, George (12), Jacob (11), David (6), John (4), and Eliza A (2). All in household were born in Pennsylvania. Jane reported that she could not read or write and Elmer and George could not write. [1]

Josiah Hall (52), laborer, and wife Jane (50), in household with their children Malinda (27), George (23), Jacob (21), David (17), John (15), Elisa (12), Allice (10) and William (8). All in household were born in Pennsylvania.[2] Neighbors were Josiah and Jane's son, Elmer Hall and William Stull.

John Hall (56), widowed, labroer, father in the household of his son Alva (25) and his wife Lura (20), and their son James L, 1 year and 11 months old. Lura and her parents were born in West Virginia, all others born in Pennsylvania.[4]

Luzerne Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, 5 April 1930
John Hall (63), widowed, father in the household of his son Alva J (35), homeowner of property valued at $800 and a coal mine laborer, and his wife Lura L (29), first married at ages 22 and 16 respectively. Also in the household are Alva and Lura's sons, James L (12) and Arthur G (8). James and Arthur attended school within the census year. John and Arthur were not able to read or write. Lura and James L born in West Virginia and Alva reported his mother was born in Maryland.[5]

John Hall died 1 March 1936 of broncho pneumonia in Luzerne Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania and was buried at Saint Johns Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Morris Crossroads, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.[6]

Unable to locate the 1900 Census records.

1930 Census shows James L born in West Virginia although 1920 Census him born in Pennsylvania.

David Hall married Margaret Jourdan, and her sister, Elizabeth, married David's brother John Hall.
