Arthur married Martha Pinkett on April 25, 1911 in Baileys Crossroads, Virginia.

Arthur died on May 6, 1939 in Falls Church, Virginia aged 51. He is buried in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, Fairfax County.
