Biography

Stephen Hales was the son of a Hales (John or Thomas) of Canterbury, whose brother was John I Hales (died 1572), of Coventry, Warwickshire and London. He married twice:^[1]

• Amy Amice (Morison) Beale, widow of Robert Beale (died 1548), and daughter of Thomas Morison (abt.1480-) of Cherdwell, Buckinghamshire. History of Parliament says that possibly all of his four sons and at least one daughter were by this first marriage:^[1]
