Biography

Eliza (Hale) Shaw was born in Appalachia, in Kentucky. See Appalachia Project.

Eliza Jane Hale was born on January 11, 1875 in Wolfe, Kentucky, United States[1][2][3], daughter of James Thomas Hale (1846– ) and Mahala Gullett (1849–1904).

In 1880, Eliza (age 5) was the daughter of Tomas Hale in Precinct 1 Ridge, Menifee County, Kentucky.[4]

In 1900, Eliza (age 23) was the wife of Thomas Shaw in Magisterial District 1, Menifee, Kentucky.[5]

Eliza married Thomas Shaw (born about 1875 in North Carolina, United States). Their daughter was Leota Belle Shaw (1898–1965).

In 1910, Eliza (age 32) was the wife of Thomas Shaw in District 1, Rowan County, Kentucky.[6]

Eliza died on October 12, 1918 in Cabell County, West Virginia, aged 43. She was buried in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, Cabell County, West Virginia.[7][8][9]
