DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with C or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
  • C Hakes: Family Tree DNA Y-DNA Test 37 markers, haplogroup R-M269, FTDNA kit #399114
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with C:

Thanks for volunteering, C! You are now a confirmed member of the WikiTree community.

Your next step is to reread and sign the Honor Code. Here's how to use WikiTree.

If you feel lost, ask a question in our G2G forum. Most WikiTree members are happy to help a fellow genealogist.

Here's the G2G Question of the Week: Have you taken any genealogy field trips?

If you want even more to do, check out these volunteer options.

Hi C,

Welcome to the WikiTree family!

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, which means that members work together as a single collaborative team. The Honor Code is our guide to keep everything functioning smoothly as we work on one BIG tree.

The initial email from us has links you can use to get started. When you confirm your email address, you'll have an option to volunteer to add information to WikiTree, beginning with tags for your own profile. Tags are how we keep up with new information on surnames, locations, concepts, etc.

If you volunteer, a greeter will confirm your membership, and you'll be able to add new profiles!

Carole

P.S. I'm always happy to answer questions.

Hello,

Your GEDmatch ID for your Family Finder results has changed to a T followed by a random number. Please login to GEDmatch to learn your new ID and then update your GEDmatch ID on your DNA Tests page in Wikitree.

Thanks and sincerely, Peter

Hi Charlie,

Can you forward me this email so I can check to see if links work?

Welcome to WikiTree! As a guest, you can search for ancestors and participate in G2G, WikiTree’s forum.

Please look at the drop-down menus in the upper right corner and read our Honor Code - it's what we're all about.

If you would like to help with WikiTree's mission to grow a free worldwide tree, click the "Volunteer" button, then post a comment on your profile indicating that you would like to add information.

Let me know if you have questions.

Lynn

P.S. Links work from your profile page if they don't work in email.
