Biography

"Nathan Haines (William, Richard) farmer, of Evesham Twp., Burlington Co., N.J. b. 7 mo. (Sept.) 19, 1702; d. 6 mo. (August) 1751[1]

Nathan married in 1725, under the care of Haddonfield MM, N.J., Sarah Austin, daughter of Francis and Mary (Borton) Austin. First intentions of marriage were declared Haddonfield MM during 1 mo. (March) 1725 and the marriage probably took place less than two months later. [2] Nathan was granted a certificate by Burlington MM., N.J., 2 mo. (Apr.) 5, 1725, to Haddonfield MM to marry. She was received Burlington MM 2 mo. (Apr.) 5, 1731, on certificate from Haddonfield MM. both were granted a certificate by Burlington MM, 3 mo. (May) 6, 1734, to Haddonfield MM. [3][4]

  4. Nathan Haines, b. 12 March 1731/32, Evesham, N.J. d. 11 July 1790, Evesham, Burlington, New Jersey. m. Rebecca Ballinger and Dorcas (Good or Pendergrass) Davis.
  5. Sarah Haines, b. 1736, Evesham, N.J., d. Bef. 1786, Chester, N.J. m. Hudson Middleton
  6. Mary Haines b. 1737, Burlington, N.J., d. 1792, Crooked Run, Culpepper, Virginia." m. Isaac Holloway

In 1739, Nathan continued to live in Burlington County, New Jersey.[5]

Nathan Haines died on 6 August 1751 in Northhampton, Burlington, New Jersey.[6]

His will was dated 24 June 1751, and was probated 4 September 1751. An inventory of his personal property was taken on 3 September 1751. [7][8][9][10]

Witnesses-Samuel Coles, Freedom Lippincott, Charles French, Peter Bryan. Proved Sept. 4, 1751. Burl. Wills 4825 C.
1751, Sept. 3 Inventory, £ 431.10, inc. (estimated) 250 bush. of wheat and rye, £31.5; 450 bush. of Indian corn standing, £33.15; a neagro woman, £5; made by Samuel Coles and Joshua Ballinger.[11]
