Amirah Haines was born in Burlington County, New Jersey in 1804. She was the first child born to John Haines and Jemima Brown. When Amirah was about 15 years old, she and her family moved joined the Quaker migration to Ohio, living first in Washington Township, Montgomery County, Ohio before settling in Springboro, Warren County, Ohio.

In 1828, at the Springboro Monthly Meeting, Amirah married Jason Evans, the son of Benjamin Evans and Hannah Smith. However, Amirah died shortly after their marriage and there were no children. Jason's second wife was Amirah's sister, Mary W Haines.
