Biography

John Haig was born on 24 October 1802 in Cameron Bridge, Fife, his father, William, was 31 and his mother, Janet, was 28. He married Rachel Mackerras Veitch on 20 August 1839 in Edinburgh, Midlothian. They had ten children in 20 years. He died on 20 March 1878 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, having lived a long life of 75 years, and was buried in Markinch, Fife.

He started the famous Haig Whisky destillery in Cameronbridge Scotland in 1824.^[1]
