  • Death certificate states birth year is 1877, but confirms April 1, have used the earlier date of 1875 as he used that on documents completed by himself.

Biography

The early years

Daniel Oliver Haffa was born on the 1st of April 1875[1] in Waterloo, Iowa [2] to Daniel Haffa[3][2] and Sarah Frey[3][2] .

Family LIfe

He would marry Josephine Dixon on the 21st of June 1900 in Black Hawk, Iowa[4]. They would divorce[5]

He would marry Bertha Leona Witchie on the 8th of August 1921 in Blackhawk, Iowa[3] This would not be the first marriage for Bertha as she married under the name of Bertha Kelly


HAFFA-KELLEY[6] - The marriage of Mrs. Bertha Kelley and Oliver D. Haffa was read at the residence of Mrs. Daniel Haffa, mother of the groom, at 4:30 p.m. yesterday by Rev. Clinton F. Smith, pastor of the First Evangelical church. Because of the recent death of the groom's father none but members of the immediate family and two friends were present. They were Mrs. Haffa, the brides' daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. and Mrs. John Billings, Mrs. Arhtur Shaffer and Mrs. William E. Denigan

He would then marry Carrie Adsit[2] Adsit[7][8]

It is not believed he had any children from these marriages.

In September of 1918 he confirmed he was short, with a medium build, blue eyes and brown hair. At the time he was living at 120 Layfayette, Waterlook Iowa dn was a painter who worked for himself. He listed his mother Sarah as his best contact[1]

He would be an interior decorator[2] and his final home woul dbe at 120 Layfayette in Waterloo[2]

Death

He died on the 18th of December 1951 in Waterloo, Iowa[2]and he would be buried in the Fairview Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa[12]

OLIVER D. HAFFA[13]

Olliver D. Haffa, 74, died at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday at his home at 120 Lafayette street, of complications of a respiratory infection.

He was the son of Daniel and Sarah Haffa, and was born in Waterloo Apr. 1 1877.

Mr. Haffa attended the Waterlook public schools and was graduated from East high schoo.

An interior decorator by trade, Mr. Haffa is survived by his wife, at home. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Funeral services are pending. The body was taken from O'Keefe & Towne funeral home to the family home Tuesday afternoon.
