Biography

Walter Robert "Bob" Haden was born in Richmond, VA on Oct. 13, 1946 to Walter Robert Haden, Sr. and Ruby Lenora Seamster Haden. His father was career military, so Bob moved around a bit as a child. He lived in the Richmond area, Germany, and Arlington Heights, IL. In 1962 Bob, Sr. and Ruby divorced. Bob, Sr. was stationed in California while Ruby and the kids stayed in Arlington Heights where Bob was able to finish HS.

Bob went to the U of I for his freshman year of college and then transferred to Elmhurst College where he earned his undergraduate degree in Economics. He was employed as a stock broker by BC Zeigler and Co and then by Smith Barney & Shearson. While working at Zeigler, Bob went back to school and earned a law degree from DePaul University, but didn't end up using this degree.

Bob married in 1966, but this marriage only lasted a few years and they had no kids. In 1970, Bob met his second wife (a former HS classmate) while at a local bar watching Monday night football. They got married in 1971 and had three kids. This marriage lasted around 11 years. Bob got married a third and final time in 1983 and this marriage ended in divorce in 1995. Bob didn't end up marrying again.

Bob was an avid reader who enjoyed strategy games, history, music, the theater, and sports. He especially loved going to concerts, plays, and live sporting events in Chicago and elsewhere. His favorite sports teams were the Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, and the Detroit Tigers. However, Bob got the most enjoyment from spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Bob passed away on December 15, 2019.
