Hello again!

This week we have your last stop on the guided tour. We want to give you just a few more tools that can take you even deeper into the WikiTree forest without getting lost: How to Dig a Little Deeper.

As always, your questions are welcome!

Hi!

You've probably been hard at work adding family members and getting connected to those that are already here. You should have at least a few profiles that you manage now. So, this week we're going to look at how to work with your Watchlist: How to Manage Your Watchlist.

Please let me know if you have any questions! I am happy to help!

Vicky Majewski ~ WikiTree Mentor

Haven't been on here for a while. But yesterday, I got a message in my e-mail and it showed that people have been changing my tree...but their changes are not correct. I can't figure out how to change it back, the site is not allowing me to. :(

Nobody even bothered to ask me, before they made these changes, either. :(

Hi Susan,

I corrected and added info to the bio and sources for Alfred Emery (1849 - 1914) (Emery-2841) and Susan A. (Taylor) Emery (1824 - 1904) (Taylor-40108).

Susan --

You've been here a week now, and we hope you enjoyed your first stop on your guided tour of WikiTree and were able to make good use of the things you learned.

Our next stop will give you some pointers on how to make your profiles stand out: How to Make the Most of a Profile.

As always, your questions are welcome!

Shirley

Hi Susan,

I added sources to the profiles and info to the bio's for Samuel Daniel Emery (1847 - 1927) (Emery-2824 ) and Helen Opie Marie (Warren) Emery (1848 - 1911) (Warren-10369)

You can see how I added the sources and info to the bio by clicking the edit tab of the profile.

The sources contained a lot of additional info for both profiles such as siblings, parents of Helen etc.

I hope this helps.

Thank you, David ~ Wiki Mentor

Hi Susan,

A little more information on sources as I see your using Ancestry as a source.

Links to sources on paid subscription sites such as Ancestry, FindMyPast, and MyHeritage can be frustrating for WikiTree members and visitors without access to these sites. We recommend searching for a freely available copy of the source document on sites such as FamilySearch, USGenWeb, Archive.org, and HathiTrust. If the source record is only available to paid subscribers, when providing the URL please also extract as much information as possible, such as relevant names, dates, and the source of the original data. Providing the source as an inline reference within the biography also helps to clarify which biographical facts are supported by the source citation.

Thank you, David ~ Wiki Mentor

Hi Susan,

Thanks for the message and question(s)!

Our primary vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person, so please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile.

Sources are critically important for genealogy and you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from. This page describes sources and how to enter sources.

This page also describes Sources.

Family Search and Find a Grave are free websites for finding sources:
