Biography

Troy Guthrie was born February 24, 1891 and is the son of Jeremiah Guthrie and Nancy Nicola. Troy grew up in Grant, West Virginia along with seven siblings; James Guthrie, Hattie Guthrie, Norton Guthrie, Lloyd Guthrie, Stella Guthrie, Ray Guthrie and Dessie Guthrie.[1][2][3]

At 26 years of age, Troy registered for the draft for World War I on June 5, 1917[4] and there were no sources showing that he served in that war. When Troy was 51, he registered for the draft for World War II[5] and there are no sources to show that he served in that war.

Troy married Eula Esta Fike May 11, 1921[6] and they made their home in Grant, West Virginia[7] until his death December 3, 1966.[8][9] Together they raised four children; Robert Eugene Guthrie,[10] Thelma Pearl Guthrie, Alice May Guthrie and Dwight J Guthrie. Troy made his living as a Farmer, Miner and Thresherman. Troy is buried in Shady Grove Cemetery, Brandonville, West Virginia.[11]
