Biography
Samuel Gummoe was born in Cornwall, England in 1838.[1] He was the son of John Gummoe and Grace Johns. He married Elizabeth A. Huddy in Probus, Cornwall. They emigrated to the US and settled in Pennsylvania. He became a US citizen in 1879.
Stephen Gummoe, aged 16, son of Samuel Gummoe of Dyberry, while unloading hay on Thursday evening last, fell through the rigging, and broke his left thigh. Dr. Burns was called.[2]
Samuel Gummoe, of Clinton township, died at his home near Aldenville, on Thursday last, aged 55 years and 6 months. The deceased was a native of England, but for many years he resided in this county where he was well-known. Some three or four years ago he had an attack of grip, which in spite of his remarkably strong physique, was the cause of his death.[3]
