Obituary Added to Findagrave Memorial

"Amy was the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Hoyt) Guion. Her obituary indicated she was born on September 26, 1823; however, her tombstone has the year 1822. She married Basil Maxwell at the age of 14 or 15. There were the parents of eleven known children - John, Mary, Morgan, Elizabeth, Sarah, Emily (Emma), Martha, George, Cynthia, James, and Nettie. Amy was widowed in 1887; she never remarried. Amy passed away on April 7, 1910. She is buried next to her husband Basil in Highland Cemetery in Fishers, Indiana.

Her obituary reads as follows: Amy Guion Maxwell Gone to Her Reward. On Sunday, April 3, we were called by telegraph to the bedside of our aged mother Mrs. Amy Guion Maxwell near Oaklandon in Marion county., Ind., who recognized us with "God bless you," but she gradually grew weaker until Thursday when she passed peacefully away; aged 87 years, 6 months and 12 days.

Her funeral was preached on Sunday at the Hope church on the corner of the farm which she owned by Rev. John Wyant from the Test, "She hath done what she could." Her body was laid away in Highland cemetery by the side of father who had preceded her twenty-three years ago. The pall bearers were three granddaughters and their husbands. There were many beautiful floral offerings, one by the Hope Sunday School bearing the word "Asleep."

She was a firm believer in Christianity. Born and raised in Morgan county, Ohio but had been a resident of Marion county, sixty-six years. She leaves three sons, four daughters, nineteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one sister to mourn her departure."
