Hi Morganne,

Thanks for all your work on WikiTree. I noticed that you recently created profile for pre-1700 ancestors.

There have recently been some updates to the Pre-1700 Profile help page and the Pre-1700 Quiz since you took it in May 2018. Please review both and let me know if you have any questions or concerns. You will notice that the wording has been modified to more fully explain the sourcing needed for pre-1700 profiles.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Morganne,

I see that tonight you have been creating pre-1700 profiles using Family Search trees. In some cases, these trees are well sourced, but many of them have no sources at all, which makes them fairly useless as a source per pre-1700 standards. Would you please review your recently created profiles and search for more appropriate sources for the unsourced tree entries.

Thanks, Dave

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz, Morganne!

Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or special event.

Hopefully you can search for DOB and DOD locations to add to your ancestors, along with the sources you add.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

PS To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Hi Morganne,

You've been a member of WikiTree for about a week so I am checking in to see how it is going. The New Member How-Tos are for you to work at your own pace. If you had time to look, were they helpful?

I'm here to help with questions about how WikiTree works. Just click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page. I'll get back to you by the end of the day.

PS If you get a "Page Not Found" error when clicking WikiTree email links, you can often find a working version in the public comments on your profile.

PPS Did you discover that the tags on your profile are clickable links to a page of other people who have that tag? You can add more, up to 20 total.

Hi Morganne,

A warm welcome to WikiTree. You are now a full member and can add your family to the big tree!

Click here to start with our New Member How-To Pages. They will save you time, energy and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Hope you enjoy WikiTree as much as I have. You never know when you will find a lost family member or ancestor. Or maybe find a hidden family secret about an ancestor. Genealogy to me is like being a detective looking for clues into the past.

Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile as the links will work from there.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm always happy to help!
