Capt John Grattan Guinness was born on 1 September 1783, in Dublin Ireland, his father, Arthur Guinness ( Founding Brewer), was 57 and his mother, Olivia Whitmore, was 41.
He married Susannah Hutton and they had four children together. Christened at Beaumont, Dublin on 1 Sept 1783.
He then married Jane Mary Lucretia Cramer and they had four children together.
He served in India then returned to Dublin. Heading what is known as the Missions Branch of the Guinness family . He died on 3 March 1850 in Gloucestershire at the age of 66, and was buried in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire ,England

John Grattan Guinness gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Honourable East India Company Service. He two sons and three daughters by his first wife, all of whom died without issue, and anotjher son and a daughter by his second marriage, both of whom were childless.
