Maria was born in 1843. Full name at birth may have been Anna Maria Louisa Grube, per Ancestry suggestions.

She married Heinrich Sickmeier aboout 1869 while still in Germany, and had three children, the first born in Europe, the two younger daughters born in Indiana:

Christian Sickmeier 1870-1938 (born in Prussia)

Sophia Sickmeier 1872-1915 (born in Indiana)

Emma Ann Sickmeier 1876-1937

The family is recorded in Widner twp., Knox, IN in 1880; Henry and Mary are both 36; Henry is a laborer and Mary is keeping house. Children are Christ., 10; Sophia, 7; Emma, 4.

In 1900 Henry "Sichmire" is 55, married for 31 years to Mary, 66 (probably should have been 56) who has borne 4 children with 3 still living. Year of immigration from Germany was 1874 for both, and Henry is naturalized. He is working as a butcher.

She passed away in 1916. She is buried in Freelandville Memorial Cemetery.
