Asa Grow was baptized 24 May 1767 in Oxford, Worcester County, Province of Massachusetts Bay. His father was John Grow.The mother named in his birth record was Sarah (last name unknown.^[1] George Whitefield Davis, compiler of "...John Groo (Grow) of Oxford writes that Asa was probably the 17th child of John Grow, the issue of a second marriage (of which there is no record), or that the name Sarah was miswritten for Mary (Mary Farrington, the mother of all the previous children.) He notes that there is no death record for John, Sarah, or Mary in the Oxford town records.^[2]
